Just For Fun

mentalFloss2

Won’t it be fun to use a “buttload” in a sentence? Ummmm, I’ll have a buttload of that. The problem with using words that only you know at the time is people assume you’re wrong, or being funny. *Sigh* But, you bet your butt someone will try to use this! And it will be fun. Maybe a buttload of fun.

Meanwhile…

A photo. It catches the eye and then the attention. From the attention I decide to keep or to pass by. If kept I redesign, wander through the room(s), move this or that. Seeking my place in that universe. Things to admire: the desk in front of a window (who are those putting a desk in front of a wall?). The boxes with doors within the shelves. The window within the shelves. The ladder. The loft.

Meanwhile, I jot down thoughts and sketches on the notebook next to me and the computer on the desk that is in front of the window. The thoughts and sometimes the sketches are for the current novel or a future one, or nothing. Just because some thoughts require writing.

Meanwhile, I reconfigure the loft so that it is open on the end and extends a walkway in front of the books and to the ladder. This I do in my mind rather than on paper as I could spend the rest of my life doing architectural drawings. And that belongs to some past of mine.

So then, maybe then I have a photo to post.

Glenn Gould

Here’s Glenn. There’s not a lot to say after that. Such a fascinating character. Such a great musician. And the thing about him that makes him so unique isn’t as much his personality as his distinct style. There are many great pianists today: Martha Argerich, Lang Lang (according to some), among others. But the most identifiable, the minute the fingers touch upon the keys, the cleanest, clearest, lightest fingering—ah yes, that belongs to Glenn Gould.

Ah, Freddie…

Happy Birthday, Dear Freddie

An ending that came way too soon. Did he curse that dying of the light? Did he fight to sing again? From Shakespeare: If music be the food of love, play on…

Sing on, Freddie, let those magic vocals reverberate throughout the Universe.

And may we be able to hear them.

Benedict Cumberbatch

Here is the most wonderful actor and best Sherlock Holmes ever! And I do not say that lightly. In fact, the most recent series, and a delightful contemporary version of Sherlock Holmes, has come to define Cumberbatch and Holmes! The modern version of Sherlock was a reboot presented by the BBC in 2010, wherein Cumberbatch became a celebrity of amazing proportions. He has gained an obsessive fan base that has earned him the title of “the internet’s boyfriend.” And, I have just read where his followers are called “Cumberbitches.” I love it.
